Nutcracker Tea at the Peabody

My little lady and I went to the Peabody Hotel today to enjoy a Nutcracker Tea.  We will be going to see the ballet in a few weeks.  Snapdragon had a wonderful time dancing, sipping tea, eating treats, decorating a cupcake, playing games, and making a craft.  I hope she learns to appreciate and love ballet as much as I do!

Buttercup and Lou enjoyed an afternoon at Blue Man Group at the Orpheum.  I think we all enjoyed our afternoon in downtown Memphis.

Halloween Festival Time

Snapdragon said she wanted to be a superhero for Halloween. We were all set to go buy her a Spidergirl outfit or something of the sort and then she said, "No, I am going to be Mulan. She is a superhero. She saved China!" Too funny. Good thing we already had a Mulan costume from when Buttercup was little.

Life of a 5 Year Old

We had a busy weekend!  Snapdragon had her last soccer game and picnic on Friday night while Buttercup was at the CBHS homecoming game.  On Saturday morning, we went to our second gymnastics class.  Snapdragon is loving gymnastics!  Today, while Buttercup and Daddy were at The Orpheum, we had our fall Open House at school!  I am so proud of Snapdragon for doing so well in her Kindergarten year!

Welcome Fall

This weekend was beautiful! The temperatures are starting to cool off (if you can call 84 degrees cool) so it put me in the mood for fall baking. The munchkin and I made some homemade vanilla wafers with a recipe we found on Pinterest. I even had time to add some decor to the home (hadn't used my Cricket in a awhile), but it is lesson planning time tonight. I am also simmering some oranges, lemons, and cinnamon sticks on the stovetop. Yum! Snapdragon just played her first soccer game today and she scored a goal! She said she likes soccer better than tee-ball because she got to run more! Go figure! Buttercup is settling into highschool. She loves hanging out with her friends and going to the CBHS football games, but she says the work is hard. It is confusing because she has a different schedule each day and she has to turn most of her work in via e-mail. She is figuring it all out and is doing well! Dance starts tomorrow! I am excited for another year!

Great Weekend and The Butterfly Whisperer

We had a great day Sunday!  Our hike at Meeman Shelby Forest brought back so many memories!  It was a fun and relaxing day with a little bit of work mixed in.  Buttercup seems to attract butterflies where ever we go.  Check out the pictures of the butterfly whisperer! Snapdragon had a blast learning to drive the quad on her own when we came home from our hike!

Back to School!

I can't believe Buttercup is already a freshman in high school and Snapdragon is in kindergarten!  Where did my babies go?  Buttercup started Saint Agnes Academy on Tuesday and is loving evey minute of high school, so far....thank you, God!  They started the year last Friday with a freshman overnight in the gym (all girl school w/98 freshman) and they set up their lockers, played games, and went through their schedules.  Next weekend, the freshman class is going on a rafting trip overnight.  The first Christian Brother's football game is tomorrow and she loves using her school laptop.  What more could a girl ask for?

Snapdragon had her first day of kindergarten at Holy Rosary today and couldn't stop talking about the Gingerbread Man hunt.  She enjoyed her first day and is excited about eating lunch in the cafeteria for the first time tomorrow.

Everyone is off to a great start!  I pray we have a smooth year!

Happy 19th Anniversary!

Lou and I enjoyed celebrating our anniversary in Cincinnati.  We took the girls downtown and ate at Rock Bottom Brewery on Fountain Square.  We traveled to the top of the Carew Tower, did a little shopping, and finished the day with a Red's game.
