Happy Thanksgiving and Deck the Halls

Enjoying a Thanksgiving meal with Snapdragon's class after they performed some wonderful Thanksgiving songs.

Waiting for the turkey!

Look at that face!!!

Buttercup has her own tree at the top of the landing. She hung blue, black, purple and silver ornaments on the tree.

Enjoying the fruits of their labor. Do you see where the dogs lounge?

I know it's been a long time since I posted on the blog. We have been super busy with school, work, and the usual after school commitments.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with the blessings of family. Grammy, PaPa, and Aunt Debbie joined us. The men decorated the outside of the house and the girls went to The Peabody, got pedicures, and shopped and shopped some more.

We spent the day yesterday cleaning and decking the halls for Christmas. We love our new tree! It's a 12 footer! Buttercup and I were exhausted from all of the hard work, so we relaxed and watched one of our favorite Christmas movies, A Christmas Story, by the fire last night.

Today I am just finishing up some loose ends before it's back to school and work tomorrow. Lou went to the mall to get some Christmas shopping done without all of the girls.

Fire Poster Winner

Buttercup was chosen as the 7th grade fire poster contest winner in the City of Bartlett. We went to the City Council meeting last night. She received a $100 savings bond and her poster is being sent to Nashville for the state contest.

Zoo Boo!

After a great victory today, we went to the Zoo Boo for some family fun tonight. This year we took a pirate and Minnie Mouse. It was a fun night and now the girls are geared up for some real trick or treating next week!

First Place

Happy girls!

Congratulations to the Saint Ann Colts Cheerleaders! They won first place today!

Beautiful Girls

These are just some quick photos I took before Buttercup headed to a dance at her school and we headed to a family Halloween party at my boss's house last night. Fun was had by all! Cheer competition today and Zoo Boo tonight!

Pumpkin Patch

We made a trip to Cedar Hill Farm in Hernando, Mississippi today to pick out our Halloween pumpkins. It was fun, but it doesn't feel like October. The temp was 92 degrees today. Hot! Hot! Hot! Buttercup and her friend enjoyed the corn cob cannon and the tractor tire swing. Snapdragon liked the chicken show and petting the animals.

The Annual Haunted House Building

The girls made our traditional Halloween haunted house centerpiece this morning. Buttercup likes to be creative and Snapdragon like to eat the goodies!

Autumn Moon Festival and Other Fun

It has been another busy, but fun weekend. We went to the Bartlett Fest on Friday night and enjoyed barbecue made by the Poker Porkers. This is a group of our friends that enter the barbecue contest every year. It was yummy!

Snapdragon and I made apple cobbler and apple butter from the apples we picked last weekend. Buttercup and I began work on the three school projects she has due in the next two weeks. We made a trip to Hobby Lobby and went to Rhodes College to collect leaves for her science project. She has to collect twenty leaves and label them with their common and scientific name. Rhodes College is beautiful and they have most of their trees labeled. She was able to collect all of her leaves today. She finished her poster for religion class about a basilica in Avignon, France.

Today, we celebrated the Chinese Autumn Moon Festival with our annual home cooked Chinese meal, eating of moon cakes (and moon pies), and our glow stick hunt. It was a beautiful evening. Now, I am helping Buttercup study for her religion test tomorrow. Uggh! I'm tired!
